March madness pt.1

Thanks to simple suggestions from Logan I came back and tried again. I didn't get it all on here but this part is cuter anyway so here you go ;)

Our March madness doesn't have anything to do with sports. It started in March of 2010, on the 12th specifically around 2am or so and by morning it, or rather she was in full swing. Her name is Katie and she is quite adorably mad, in that wonderful small child sort of way that often incites peals of infectious laughter.

Following quite closely in her big brother's shoes actually
Rowan's new favorite thing is to run, specifically he enjoys having "races" against himself up and down the sidewalk.

Accordingly one of Katie's favorite things to do is join in his "solo" races.

Provided she isn't distracted of course...

It takes a bit more to distract Ro-Ro

A bit later Katie decided she'd had enough racing and would like to sit down and be cute for a while. She's quite good at it you see.

March 12th: The day the madness began...

Two years later our baby girl seems quite grown up... even though she hasn't quite mastered such things as manners concerning utensil usage.

Cold cereal, a good birthday breakfast by all accounts!

Later on in the day is was time for gifts!!

Almost more fun than watching Katie's reactions to each gift was watching Rowan react to the opening ;)

Afterward, I tried my best to have her look at the camera and smile but I suppose it's a better testament to how good the gifts were that she wouldn't stop looking at them and playing with them long enough to be bothered :)

Thank you to everyone for the lovely gifts! She really does like every one.

After changing to a new outfit, as big girls do, she had a tea party with her new tortoise that she named Turtle.

Evie came to join in but since she can't sit up yet Katie kindly opted for some cuddle time instead. In fact she was quite upset when we took Evie away for "tummy time".

Even with encouragement from her big sister it wasn't long before Evie was tired of "tummy time".

Birthday dinner of choice: noodles! This was actually some stir fry and noodles because Mom's dinner of choice includes veggie

After dinner we sang happy birthday and Katie blew out the two candles on her ice cream cake.

Too soon actually... As soon as we had sung "Happy birthday dear Katie" she abruptly blew out the candles catching my aunt off guard. She was poised to get a photo of the moment Katie blew out the candles (at the END of the song) but this was the result of a toddler's impatience and excitement for ice cream cake.

That pretty much sums up our Kates. A blur of adorable, innocent, sweet hearted madness :)

bad request?

I finally got down here to our basement computer with all the pictures on it so I could update everyone on our big 2 year old girl, our new slide/climbing structure, and the "long explore" we had today, as Rowan would say anyway. I wasn't actually that long (maybe 600 meters all together) but it was momentous as it was my first time taking the kids into Washington D.C. by myself and during the cherry blossom festival no less!

Unfortunately the process of adding pictures keeps blanking out and giving me this "bad request" message. I'm not sure what that means other than I will not be creating a blog post tonight, sorry everyone. Hopefully tomorrow I can teach my computer better grammar so that it can again send "good requests".

Katie Katie picture lady

I've been trying to take more pictures lately. So I carry the camera in my purse and can pull it out at fun places.

Like the play area at the nearby mall

The downside of using the thing is that the battery gets used also. So I hook it up to the computer and let it charge. Katie discovered this the other day and helped herself to a few photos.

Since then Katie has been asking almost every time I have the camera out if she can take some photos. I am a big softy so I loop the strap around her little wrist a few times (so she can't drop it) and let her have some fun.

So here is a bit of what we've been up to lately
from Katie's view
(with a few shots from Mom)

Our friends came up from AL to spend Pres. day weekend with us.
We went out to Fort Hunt park to play.

Back at home the next day

(Rowan actually took this one)

After our friends hit the road it was back to business as usual.

Today was a bit of excitement though :)
We finally made it to the National Zoo!

I think the kids were looking for tigers.
I like how Katie was up on her toes :)

A couple hours later we ended up at the farm...
...and Katie decided she wanted a turn :)

Of course I had to show you all the pizza play area
(very fun!)

Evie spent the day in style, that is... in a front pack :) She got a stuffed panda from the gift shop so I wanted to get a shot with her and one of the real pandas.

I will try to organize myself and get some more pictures up here soon but with all the picture taking my little almost-two-going-on-six girl had been taking I thought I should showcase them first.

Until next time.... <3

East coast time

Whew! I honestly was not expecting it to take THIS long for me to post again. It's amazing how busy you can be with three littlies around! Okay, so here's the deal. I took photos on our amazing journey here and have taken a bunch since we've been here... but I'm not sure where they all are. Moving photos from my regular computer, to an external hard drive, to a new computer has gotten me all confused (I know it sounds simple right? I guess it's the baby brain) Anyhow, right now I don't have pics of the house or the trip but here's a big dose of cuteness to make up for it!

Can you handle this much cute?

how about this??

it's all just... too... adorable... I can't hardly stand it!
(haha just kidding, I can totally stand it. I love it!)

Since we unpacked and have gotten settled we haven't done much. Plans are underway for a zoo trip and trips to see the beautiful buildings, monuments, and memorials around the capital but for now...

Wii games
hanging out at my Uncle Kurt and Aunty Kelly's place

healthy snacks

family walks
(This one was in the woods behind our house)
Rowan was there he was just ahead of us, as seen when we emerged in the neighborhood across the little gully.

Picture taking (when Mom has turned her back)

posing in cuuute outfits!

enduring more photos at her 2 month check up
10 pounds (some ounces) and... 20-some inches...
(hey she's my third and it's late, ask my Mom she'll probably remember the particulars)

This time (cheesy) smiles!
It's crazy to think that one day they'll be the same size and play with each other.

cutie :)

A sunny day brought an impromptu picnic on our deck.
(they wanted to wear their hats like Sam, Katie's Godfather)

Soon I will get some pictures of the house and maybe a couple of our jaunt across the nation.
Just you wait...
(yarrr!)

I just have to share these. I hope everyone's internet will let them watch. These are my big kids :) I love them so!
